Each year the club holds a social ride to dinner plain. It is a supported ride with food, drink & a sag wagon if needed, and therefore carries a cost of $10. ALL are welcome. The ride starts from Cyclepath bike shop at 8:00am, so turn up early to register. The ride heads to Harrietville at a social pace so everyone can stick together. From there you climb the mountain at your own pace. We have lunch at Dinner Plain then ride home.
The club holds social rides for both road and mountain biking at regular times throughout the week. Check the information board out front of Cyclepath to see what rides are available during the week. All rides gather and start from Cyclepath except for the time trial.
Early each year the club gets together for a social dinner and awards ceremony to celebrate another year of the club and its achievements. This year the dinner will again be at The Red Stag. As it happens to be St Patricks day the theme is to wear some green. Please email president@alpinecyclingclub.com.au to book your seat.

La Grande Boucle
(pronounced, la gron book ) Literally, the Big Loop.
Scheduled for DECEMBER 10 and 11, 2011, weekend after the Tour of Bright.
This year we are riding in an clockwise direction and we are planning to alternate ride direction each year.
Starting at 8.00 am from Cyclepath bike shop in Bright, we head to Falls Creek before ending the day at the " Blue Duck Inn " at Anglers Rest for our overnight stay.
On Sunday morning we grovel our way up to Mount Hotham.
Support vehicles will be provided and they will be carrying extra water and light snacks.
For those riders not wishing or able to ride the full distance, it will be possible to travel in one of these vehicles but this needs to be discussed with the ride co-ordinator prior to the event.
Of course you can always encourage a friend to be a support driver and maybe take turns riding.
Garry Meyland is ride co-ordinator for 2011 . Cabins have been booked at the " Blue Duck Inn" for Saturday night and setup is as follows, 4X2 Bedroom cabins. Each cabin has two double beds and two bunks, and are self contained so you can make your own meals/breakfast or eat at the Inn. Linen and towels provided.
You can check out info on www.blueduckinn.com.au
Work out if you want a cabin for yourself or who you might share with as accommodation is limited. Camping at the site may also be possible and enquiries will be made if needed.
ACCOMODATION IS FULLY BOOKED.
We will have regular stops along the ride and more information will be provided closer to the event.
Non riding partners who joined last years' ride were able to enjoy great scenery, share a wonderful weekend , and understand a little more why we choose to put ourselves through a fair bit of effort in completing a ride such as this.
SET YOURSELF A CHALLENGE and join in " la Grande Boucle 2011"
